The Journey of Aspiration

During service-learning, it is our honour to have the opportunity to serve the secondary school students. This collaboration is one of the most meaningful experiences as it brings together different parties, such as secondary school teachers, secondary school students, and PolyU students. I would like to sincerely thank all parties for their effort in providing the best for our next generation, inspiring them with passion to serve the society and build a better future.
As a teacher, I constantly explore different ways to enhance students’ learning. Service-learning is one of most effective pedagogies to enable students to learn in deeper and more impactful ways. I can co-walk with them by helping them to plan activities as a team. Through group discussions, we generate ideas and strive to provide the best for our service targets. During implementation, I witness my students’ learning and growing through their experiences. These are previous moments which I could observe how they grow during service. After each service, we conduct evaluations to reflect on their performance and identify ways to improve. This spiral cycle allows students to learn and grow continuously over days and weeks. Such valuable experiences cannot be acquired from textbooks; rather, they help students discover more about themselves and prepare to become future pillars of society.
Students often ask me what the most previous moment in teaching is. My answer is, “The most precious moment is not how well I can train or teach my students to serve others, but the process of walking together with them as they learn, grow, and reflect through service-learning.”
